While hanging around on the stunnng Cornish Coastline for the Boardmasters earlier this month, I had the absolute pleasure of shooting with the incredible photographer Julia McIntosh. Jules is a local photographer and I can say that this shoot was hands down the best shoot I have done to date! I was looked after so well by the team at Number 8 Hair Salon in Truro, who did an amazing job on my surf mop:) I had my beautiful sister Natasha with me and they even treated her to a relaxing hair wash and style! The lovely Emma-Louise Wandless, who has worked with some big names had the task of transforming me…and boy did she do an incredible job! Living in bikinis, shorts, wetsuits and generally anything you can slip on to head down to the beach in it was so nice to be pampered and dressed up 🙂 The team clicked straight away and I think we did more laughing than anything else! I absolutely loved every single second of shooting and can not wait to work with everyone again. Thank you so much to Shaz Lilisant Roche (assistant) for getting absolutey soaked while handling the reflector and making me laugh so much! Such special people…so blessed to have met them all! There are too many favourite pics to post but here are a few for now! Anyone interested in shooting down in Cornwall…I strongly suggest you get in touch with Julia!! http://www.juliamcintoshphotography.com/ Thanks again ladies!:) x
Six years ago I put on my last contest vest and it has been a pretty long journey to get back in little coloured vests…but I could not be happier! My return to the competetive arena was at none other than the Boardmasters at Fistral Beach earlier this month.
Not having surfed a heat in so long it is safe to say that my nerves well and truly kicked in as soon as I was preparing for my round one heat! I think I was so overwhelmed that I could barely complete a single turn during the first half of the heat. The conditions were super small and it was really tricky. My fighting spirit came alive in the last 8 minutes when I was sitting in 4th position and needing a very low score to move on to the next round, so I did what I needed to do and ended up winning my first heat, which as you can imagine left me buzzing:) I ended up surfing through two more rounds and exciting the event in the quaters, after an extremely tough heat. I was upset, as I would have liked to go on to take a win at the event but I think going in with no expectations and getting as far as I did was enough of an achievment.
I had the constant suppurt of my amazing sister Natasha, who I know I would have been absolutely lost without during the event. That girl is really something else and I really thank God for her!:) Thaks to all my wonderful friends and beautiful family for your constant support/messages/calls during the event…I am realy so blessed!
We even managed to see the likes of Snoop Dog at the Music Festival on Saturday night, before the music was cancelled on Sunday night due to the storms.
Massive thank you to my amazing sponsors Deeside Water and Food Innovation Solutions for making my trip possible… None of this would have been possible without them and I am beyond grateful! Thank you to Urban Beach and Osprey for your support at the event and congrats on your successful partnership with the Boardmasters this year. I am sure next year will be bigger and better…I am already looking forward to it!
I am now back in the island and really looking forward to a solid winter of training and surfing…INJURY FREEEEEE!:)
See you in the water!
